T.E.A.M.

This was the elementary sports program for all of the Traverse City School district. Featuring track, cross country, basketball, and volleyball.

I started in the T.E.A.M. organization because my daughter wanted to play basketball in the 5th grade, so I took up coaching for her school. That expanded to track the following season and before I knew it, I was the East Bay Elementary Athletic Director.

That moved on to getting more and more involved until I became the president. This was a fairly large organization serving about 14 elementary schools. Jobs included making policies, hiring referees, training coaches, and organizing all the big events each season. This was SO much work but very much worth the time.

GT Rocks

Another job that I had 10 years ago was the manager of a Rock Climbing Gym in Traverse City called GT Rocks. It was my responsibility to hire staff, train, organize, and handle the cleaning and maintenance of the rock wall; along with managing the cash and depositing it into our sister company Just for Kicks (soccer).

Below: photo of my daughter Courtney who got me involved with rock climbing. Love this photo because it shows no matter how hard it gets, how painful, if you keep trying, the win will feel so much greater knowing what you did to get there. So proud of both my children because they demonstrate this type of attitude daily, and it has taken them far.
